Story

A community of fewer than 5,000 people, Vanderhoof is small in size, but large in spirit. Its Spirit of BC community committee organized a record-breaking 40 events over two weeks to celebrate Spirit of BC 2007.

"The true spirit of our community has risen to new heights. It takes a committed group of volunteers to organize all of the events for Spirit of BC Week," said Brian Frenkel, chair, Vanderhoof Spirit of BC Community Committee.

From carpet bowling and fitness classes to a film festival and kids carnival, the Vanderhoof committee offered activities for all ages, abilities and interests.

Spirit of BC is a province-wide program that involves 95 Spirit of BC committees, representing over 200 communities across the province. These committees support local programs and help create opportunities in sport and recreation, arts, literacy, volunteerism, business and tourism. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia. Visit SpiritofBC.com for more information.
