Telkwa Measures Up in Accessibility

Telkwa received $15,000 from Measuring Up. Funds were used to install a wheelchair ramp and accessible washroom at the Round Lake Community Hall and an accessible washroom at the Telkwa Community Centre. In addition, the community is paving a parking lot adjacent to the Seniors' Centre, playing fields and Community Hall, and installing benches along community walking trails.

Measuring Up helps communities assess and improve how accessible and inclusive they are for people with disabilities, seniors and others with similar needs. The program includes a fund, established by the Province of British Columbia, which offers grants to communities to complete accessibility-related projects.
