Smithers Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

The 2008 Spirit of the Mountains Festival in Smithers drew almost 1,500 participants and involved 100 performers. Events included a schmuss ski, kids carnival, snowmobiling, and free bowling, skating, swimming and ski activities. The popular Rayz Rail Jam featured boarders and skiers showing their stuff right downtown. The finale for Smithers, one of more than 100 communities celebrating Spirit of BC Week 2008, was a torchlight parade down Hudson Bay Mountain.

Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
