Smithers Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2007

Smithers, one of more than 83 communities to celebrate Spirit of BC Week 2007, hosted Spirit Curl, Spirit Skate, Spirit Swim and other affordable recreation opportunities. In lieu of admission, participants were asked to donate a non-perishable food item for the food bank. Free transportation was provided. Activities were supported by the Spirit of the Mountains Working Team, in partnership with the Smithers-Telkwa Spirit of BC Committee, Town of Smithers, Village of Telkwa, Bulkley-Nechako Regional District, Smithers Curling Club, and Bulkley Valley Aquatic Centre Management Society.

Spirit of BC is a province-wide program that involves 95 Spirit of BC committees, representing over 200 communities across the province. These committees support local programs and help create opportunities in sport and recreation, arts, literacy, volunteerism, business and tourism.
