The 2007 Men's and Women's Coupe NorAm Super G Races received $10,000 from HostingBC. The event, one level below World Cup competition, drew 158 athletes, aged 16-25, from the US, Japan and Australia as well as from seven Canadian provinces. There were 3,300 spectators as well as a TV audience of 47,000 and a webcast audience of almost 23,000 viewers.
Direct economic benefit of the event is estimated at $145,000 in local spending. Volunteers and officials upgraded their skills to international levels to form an experienced pool to serve at the 2010 Winter Games.
