Peachland Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

Peachland, one of more than 100 communities celebrating Spirit of BC Week 2008, held numerous events including Family Frostbite Fun Day - a celebration of winter, community and healthy living. The day's activities included a game of "schmockey", crafts, a bouncing castle and the Farmers and Crafters Market.

Throughout Spirit of BC Week, Peachland merchants exchanged Frosty Bucks for store savings coupons and chance to win a draw. Also, the Peachland Parent Advisory Council organized a Valentine's event for healthy hearts where school children, parents and friends Jumped Rope For Heart.

Other activities included story time at the Library, a Sportsmen's Association game banquet, a February Freeze Up Ski Run, a Quilters Open House and a pre-teen Valentines Dance. An estimated 1,000 residents took part in the week's events.


Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
