Story
In 2007, Explorations funding of $10,000 helped the Nisga’a School District offer an arts camp and a sport and recreation camp, with 18 children aged 5-13, registered in each camp. Students came from Lakalzap and Nisga’a Elementary Schools.
At the arts camp, students were introduced to Nisga’a drawing techniques and learned about shapes, colours and painting. They created a mural that now decorates the school. The soccer camp focused on building enough confidence in young players to interest them in joining a soccer team. Campers were able to win sports equipment and every child left camp with a T-shirt, water bottle and soccer ball.
