Story

The Dancers Dancing Dance Society received $16,000 from Innovation for its Made in BC – Dance on Tour to develop a province-wide network of regional dance presenters committed to increasing dance activity in their communities. From 2006-2007, Made in BC worked with regional presenters to increase exposure for diverse dance performance across BC through dance presentations and outreach activities. Dance outreach workers reached over 100,000 people in eight communities, and involved people of all ages, backgrounds and education levels. The visibility of BC contemporary dance increased through this work. In addition, Made in BC resulted in the creation of new tools such as publications, workshops, notes, seminars and displays. This has had a strong and positive impact on the professional milieu. Made in BC is now registered as an independent society and continues to support dance touring and outreach throughout BC.

Innovations invests in arts, cultural and heritage organizations wishing to create new opportunities for community members to participate in arts and cultural activities. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
