The 2007 Canadian Open Snowboard Tour - Halfpipe NorAm event received $10,000 from Hosting BC. The event was a major competition to identify and fast track potential Olympic athletes. It drew 68 athletes, aged 15-26, from five Canadian provinces. There were 3, 000 spectators and a TV audience of 50,000. The estimated direct economic benefit was $36,000 for participants lodging, meals, and lift tickets with an additional $17,600 spent in prizes, media and transportation.
