Golden Conducts Cultural Inventory

The Town of Golden received $5,000 from Creative Communities to undertake an inventory of its cultural assets, strengths, challenges and aspirations. This included creating a database of Golden’s performers, artisans, and cultural and performance spaces. Participation in the mapping was high, giving the town a thorough view of the community opinion on the local arts and culture scene. The assessment was the first stage toward developing an action plan for arts and cultural development in Golden. Local organizations have pledged to ensure report recommendations are considered when developing their own plans.

Creative Communities assists local governments to take stock of their cultural assets and identify strengths and challenges in their local arts and cultural sector. The program also guides governments through community consultations to determine how and where to expand local arts and cultural programs and projects. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
