Story
On March 11, 2010, the Resort Municipality of Whistler opened its new accessible playground. The playground, located near the Medals Plaza in the Village, is one of three world-class accessible playgrounds planned in the 2010 Winter Games venue cities.
The Whistler playground features a multi-sensory wall, inspired by local skyline and a large, accessible tree house inspired by the region’s forests. The playground was designed to enable children with various disabilities to play side-by-side with their families and friends.
The three playgrounds were funded through a partnership of 2010 Legacies Now, the Province of BC, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada and Rick Hansen Foundation.
