2010 Legacies Now is proud to celebrate the miletones and accomplishments from throughout our history.

Thanks to the overwhelming support of our partners and British Columbians throughout the province, we discovered innovative and enduring ways for BC to benefit from the once-in-a-liftime opportunity of hosting the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

  1. New BC Sport Agency

    The founding Board of Directors is appointed for the new BC Sport Agency, later named viaSport.

  2. ArtStarts in Schools

    Infusion transfers to ArtStarts in Schools.

2011

  1. Inner-city sport court opens

    An outdoor sport court in Vancouver's inner-city opens as a legacy of the 2010 Winter Games.

  2. IOC case study on transition to LIFT

    International Olympic Committee publishes second case study on 2010 Legacies Now.

  3. LIFT Philanthropy Partners

    2010 Legacies Now launches its new venture philanthropy investment model, along with its new brand: LIFT Philanthropy Partners.

  4. UBC Centre for cultural planning and development

    2010 Legacies Now provides founding investment for new international centre for cultural planning and development.

  5. Decoda Literacy Solutions

    2010 Legacies Now partnered with Literacy BC to launch a new provincial literacy organization.

  6. Accessible tourism to Rick Hansen Foundation

    2010 Legacies Now transfers its accessible tourism resources to the Rick Hansen Foundation.

  1. Vancouver accessible playground

    The City of Vancouver opens its new accessible playground.

  2. Accessible employment

    2010 Legacies Now ensures employment legacy for people with disabilities.

  3. HostingBC.ca - a legacy of the Games

    BC Games Society and Tourism BC takes over management of HostingBC.ca.

  4. Cultural planning and mapping toolkits

    2010 Legacies Now provides cultural toolkits to Creative City Network of Canada.

  5. Measuring Up moves to SPARC BC

    SPARC BC takes over management of Measuring Up accessibility program.

  6. VolWeb.ca under new management

    BC Games Society and Volunteer BC manages VolWeb.ca website.

  7. Legacy report

    2010 Legacies Now featured in VANOC legacy report.

  8. The Spirit of BC lives on

    Spirit of BC committees province-wide capture and inspire the spirit of the Games.

  9. Accesibility Showcase

    2010 Legacies Now co-hosts showcase on accessibility during the 2010 Winter Games.

  10. Whistler Accessible Playground

    Whistler's accessible playground opens in March.

  11. APCD at the Cultural Olympiad

    Ten Arts Partners in Creative Development projects are featured during the 2010 Winter Games.

  12. Legacies Symposium

    2010 Legacies Now hosts Olympic and Paralympic Legacies Symposium in Vancouver.

  13. Virtual Voices Village

    Six Virtual Voices Village students are selected to volunteer as journalists at the 2010 Winter Games.

    The accessible playground in Richmond opens in February.

    Catalyst and Innovations arts funding programs invest close to $4 million.

  3. Accessible tourism market reserach

    2010 Legacies Now commissions market research on travellers with disabilities.

  4. Accessible Playgrounds Project

    The Accessible Playgrounds Project is announced.

  5. Road to 2010 Community Tour

    More than 157,750 people experienced interactive winter sports during the Road to 2010 Community Tour.

  6. VolWeb.ca

    The 10,000th volunteer registers on VolWeb.ca.

  7. Heroes Live Here

    Heroes Live Here encourages children and youth to celebrate the everyday heroes in their own lives.

  8. Infusion: Arts in Education

    Infusion: Arts in Education launches to provide arts experiences for students in kindergarten to Grade 8.

    At-risk youth participate in Zero Ceiling at Grouse.

    2010 Legacies Now signs a Statement of Cooperation with the Four Host First Nations.

  2. ActNow BC Road to Health Tours

    More than 27,000 people pledge to live healthier lifestyles at the ActNow BC Road to Health Tours.

  3. Altitude Youth Experience

    65 youth participate in the second year of the Altitude Youth Experience.

  4. Connecting Communities Tour

    The 2010 Legacies Now Connecting Communities Tour travels the province for its final year.

  5. Aboriginal Sport Gallery Tour

    18,000 people visit the Aboriginal Sport Gallery travelling exhibit.

  6. Growing Champions

    Growing Champions launches to connect high-performance athletes with sponsors.

  7. Spirit of 2010 Hockey

    The Spirit of 2010 Hockey Tournament involves over 45,000 young hockey players across BC.
