White Rock Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

White Rock, one of more than 100 communities to celebrate Spirit of BC Week 2008, drew 1,000 participants to its festivities. The flag-raising ceremony included Olympian Janice Bremner-Birch as keynote speaker.

Other events included children's and adult literature author readings as well as a free family and a Pro-D day skate, both supported by the Spirit of BC Altitude Youth team. Chinese New Year Celebrations, as well as a Chamber of Commerce 2010 business forum were held along with an Active White Rock Day that included activity demonstrations, free blood pressure tests, and information booths about local services.

Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
