Victoria Hosts 2008 Pacific Coast Amateur Golf Tournament

Story

The 2008 Pacific Coast Amateur Golf Tournament received $10,000 from Hosting BC. The most prestigious amateur golf event conducted in the western half of North America, the event drew 82 athletes, aged 15-52, from the US and three Canadian provinces. There were 300 spectators and a webcast audience of more than 64,000. Seventy volunteers supported the event.

Direct economic and tourism benefits included increased revenues for the local hospitality industry and suppliers. Volunteers and officials upgraded their skills providing an experienced resource pool for future major events. Local caddies and senior officials gained experience working with elite athletes.


Hosting BC provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
