Story

The 2007 Pan American Games/FISU Games Trials at Vancouver's Aquatic Centre was the selection event for the Canadian National Diving team. With $10,000 from Hosting BC, the event involved 72 athletes, aged 14-35, who came from seven provinces. Eighty volunteers supported the event which was held in front of an estimated 625 spectators and web cast to approximately 3,000 people.

The event provided national level experience for officials and volunteers and allowed local athletes to compete without high travel costs. Economic benefit to hotels, restaurants and other amenities was appreciated in an otherwise slow period and internet coverage offered significant exposure to the area. Equipment used at the event is now available to future event organizers.

Hosting BC provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
