Story

During Spirit of BC Week 2008, Surrey celebrations included Winterfest, a free event that featured some of BC's hottest bands, plus an array of family winter fun activities including outdoor skating; a Winter wonderland fun zone with 100 tons of real snow and an urban snowshoe trail; an interactive sports simulator where pro skiers and snowboarders competed with festival goers in virtual races.

There was also a Fitness zone, with more than 20 vendors and exhibitors, where participants were encouraged to "Go for 20" and become 20 percent more active by 2010. In addition, the library offered a literacy experience called Storyville, in the Winterfest storytelling tent.

One of more than 100 communities to celebrate Spirit of BC Week 2008, Surrey drew more than 3,000 participants to the events.
