The inaugural South Fraser Economic Summit brought together the communities of Abbotsford, Delta, Surrey, Langley and White Rock to look at the region's economic potential and opportunities surrounding the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Keynote speaker was Lane Beattie, CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and former Chief State Olympic Officer for the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Beattie highlighted the enormous economic potential for BC, and the huge cultural impact the 2010 Games would bring.
Going for Gold: 2010 Opportunities for South Fraser Communities hit home with the crowd. Facilitated by Gordon Goodman, then executive director of legacy initiatives with 2010 LegaciesNow, the session explored how South Fraser communities, businesses, organizations and individuals should position themselves as the province heads toward 2010.
