Story

Funding of $15,000 from Explorations allowed Scott Creek Middle School to host six sport and recreation camps for 248 children aged 5-12. Nine schools participated in the camps which offered soccer, volleyball, basketball, biking and field hockey.

The camps took place at various locations including Port Moody Inlet Turf Park and Coquitlam River Elementary. In addition to skills training, the camps included topics such as teamwork, conditioning, sportsmanship and components of SportFit.

Explorations provided students in kindergarten to Grade 7 with opportunities to explore arts, sport and recreation in summer camp settings. The program, which ran from 2005-2008, served students who were otherwise unable to attend summer camps due to location, local resources or financial limitations. Explorations was supported by the Province of British Columbia.
