Story

To help Richmond residents show their community spirit, the Richmond Spirit of BC Committee produced car window stickers with the catchy slogan "I've Got the Spirit". Adding the slogan in various languages along the sticker's border made the item more inclusive – a recommendation from one of the committee's Altitude Youth.

"This program allows Richmond residents to tangibly express their spirit. It's very gratifying to see the stickers in car windows as I drive around the city," said Richmond Spirit of BC Chair Ed Gavsie at the launch event in Steveston.

The Richmond Spirit of BC Community Committee produced 10,000 of the "I've Got the Spirit" car window stickers, and distributed more than 4,000 stickers at the Richmond WinterFest Olympic Countdown Event during the 2008 Spirit of BC Week.

In addition, a contest was held to find creative ways of using and displaying the "I've Got Spirit" stickers. Co-sponsored by the Richmond Review newspaper and COUNTERPOINT Communications in conjunction with HBC, the contest winners received plush Olympic mascots.
