Story
The 2006 Pacific International Cup of Curling received $10,000 from Hosting BC. There were 146 athletes involved, coming from Canada and four other countries to play in front of 500 spectators.
Direct economic benefits include spending by participants and spectators on lodging, transportation and food for the five days of the event. The 60 volunteers trained for the event form a pool of resources for Richmond - the official curling practice site of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Media coverage of the event offered additional marketing exposure for the venue - a desirable international training and competition site - and for the local area.
