Story

The Canadian Colleges' Athletic Association National Badminton Championships received $9,200 from HostingBC. Fifty athletes, aged 18-28, from five provinces competed in front of 150 spectators at the Richmond Pro Badminton Centre. The Badminton Academy of Douglas College hosted the event.

Direct economic benefit from the event included increased revenue from accommodation, restaurant and retail spending by participants, fans and guests. Volunteers and officials were able to upgrade their training and the event established BC as a top destination for badminton coaching and competition.

Hosting BC provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
