Richmond Hosts 2007 International Invitational Tournament of Table Tennis

The 2007 International Invitational Tournament of Table Tennis received $5,000 from Hosting BC. The event drew 300 athletes, aged 15-35, from four countries as well as eight Canadian provinces. Supported by 40 volunteers, the event was played in front of 1,200 spectators, with a TV audience of 200,000 and a web cast audience of 300,000.

The event offered a gateway to 2008 Olympic competition as well as local economic benefit with more than 250 hotel room nights booked and participants using restaurants, transportation and other amenities.

Hosting BC provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
