Story

In partnership with various arts and cultural groups, the City of Revelstoke used its $5,000 Creative Communities grant to develop a comprehensive cultural plan. The plan now guides the development of long term cultural resources. The City has used the plan’s strategies to increase the perceived value of the cultural sector, build a stronger connection between cultural activities and the downtown core, and take advantage of cultural opportunities at a nearby four-season resort. This will be a guiding document for the community over the coming decade and is proving valuable in helping the town promote Revelstoke as a unique cultural destination.

Creative Communities assists local governments to take stock of their cultural assets and identify strengths and challenges in their local arts and cultural sector. The program also guides governments through community consultations to determine how and where to expand local arts and cultural programs and projects. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
