Prince George Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

During Spirit of BC Week 2008, the Prince George Aquatic Centre and Four Seasons Pool hosted free swims that drew an estimated 400 swimmers. There was also a free family skating event, presented by BC Hydro; and a Train Your Brain project that challenged participants to read enough books during Spirit of BC Week 2008 to stretch from the downtown library to the new Northern Sports Centre at UNBC.

The Parched Youth Dance featured local bands with all proceeds going to the Northern Uganda Development Foundation. A Chinese New Year Festival featured lion dancers and fireworks. Prince George was one of more than 100 communities celebrating Spirit of BC Week 2008.


Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
