Powell River Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

More than 750 people participated in Powell River's Spirit of BC Week 2008 celebrations that included family swims and skates; curling lessons; a community art exhibition; a Spirit of Performing Arts Show with local musicians and actors. Events took place at various community venues and involved 30 performers.

The library hosted a reading by a children's author and an informal discussion period with local writers. Also, children took part in a My Family's History banner painting project. A number of concerts were held, including The Silk Road Duo performing for Ecole Cote Du Soleil students.

Powell River was one of more than 100 communities celebrating Spirit of BC Week 2008.


Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
