Story

The Regional District of North Okanagan, together with the District of Coldstream, the City of Vernon, and other arts and culture organizations, created a 20-year plan for arts and culture in the region. The plan includes an analysis of current operations, facilities, policy issues and more. Thanks to a $10,000 grant from Creative Communities, the City and surrounding District better understand the wealth of arts and culture organizations within their community. The plan, which includes five strategic goals and complementary actions, will be developed through a consultative public process. The plan is a guiding document that will now help the Regional District make arts and culture a more integral part of local community life.

Creative Communities assists local governments to take stock of their cultural assets and identify strengths and challenges in their local arts and cultural sector. The program also guides governments through community consultations to determine how and where to expand local arts and cultural programs and projects. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
