Story

MoreSports provides opportunities to participate in sport for children and families living in Vancouver's inner-city neighbourhoods. The organization aims to create partnerships focused on sport development, youth leadership and community capacity building.

Sport programs generally include opportunities to play soccer and basketball, and also involves the child's support network, such as a parent, sibling or member of their extended family. Thanks to $120,000 from the BC Sport Participation Program, MoreSports expanded its program to involve more than 6,600 children, aged 6-12, and 582 coaches participating in eight Vancouver neighbourhoods from 2004-2007.

The BC Sport Participation Program aims to increase sport participation in community and school-based sports. From 2004-2007 the program gave more than $2 million to 22 sport organizations running programs in 109 communities for close to 85,000 participants and more than 4,600 coaches. The program is funded by the Province of British Columbia and Sport Canada.
