Story

A member of the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Spirit of BC Committee was honoured in summer 2007 with a British Columbia Community Achievement Award, presented by Lieutenant Governor Iona Campagnolo and Premier Gordon Campbell.

Mike Murray, general manager of community development for the B.C. Recreation and Parks Association, was recognized for his leadership as a community volunteer and a parks and recreation professional. Whether a simple task at a festival or a more complex undertaking as a board member, Mike has demonstrated an incredible ability to build relationships, form partnerships and connect community organizations.

"I have the best job in the world working with a very large number of extremely talented colleagues and volunteers all of whom have contributed to establishing a great network and community in general," said Mike.

His passion and commitment has inspired others to participate in their communities so they too can promote positive change.
