Story

Catalyst funding of $2,500 allowed the Board and senior administration of Langley Community Music School Society to hold a two-day policy and governance workshop to define roles and responsibilities within the organization.

Key outcomes of the workshop include consensus over governance, an issue triggered by the society’s rapid growth since 2001. The organization now has a framework in which it can operate and build a foundation for future boards and management. In addition, a human resource policy and procedure manual was created to help the school operate within current legislation and manage a growing staff and faculty. The administration expects the new guidelines will enable the school to recruit and retain highly qualified individuals.

Catalyst invests in BC arts, cultural and heritage organizations wishing to enhance their artistic, administrative and organizational capacities. The program is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
