Langley Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

Langley one of more than 100 communities to celebrate Spirit of BC Week 2008. As part of its celebrations, Langley launched its GO Active Langley project. The free event featured a variety of activity stations including Try It! Dance; Try It! Basketball; and Try It! Fitness. More than 1,200 people attended the event. A Try It! Info Fair drew 300 people to learn about recreation activities in the community. There were also reduced admissions at various fitness, swimming and skating venues, a fun walk inside the walls of Fort Langley National Historic Site and a history half-marathon.

Hearts and Horses Community Awareness Day was an open house to meet the people and horses of Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities. Arts activities included a Langley Community Music School Scholarship Concert and Spirit Story Time, hosted at the Library.

Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
