Story
The 2007 Canadian Disabled Alpine Ski Championships received $10,000 from Hosting BC. Held at Kimberley Alpine Resort, the event included competition in slalom, grand slalom, Super G and downhill in sit, standing and vision categories. There were 65 athletes, aged 15-40, from Canada and the U.S. with five Canadian provinces competing. One thousand spectators watched the event which was supported by 200 volunteers.
The event offered coaching and athlete development and helped increase training and experience of local officials and volunteers. Economic benefit included a fully booked host hotel as well as increased business for the resort and surrounding tourist amenities. It also showcased Kimberley's Paralympic training run.
