Kimberley Celebrates Spirit of BC Week 2008

Kimberley drew 400 people to Kimberley Alpine Resort for the Include Everyone Signature Event for Spirit of BC Week 2008. The event celebrated commitment to including everyone in the excitement and benefits leading up to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The day's numerous activities included sledge lessons and a friendship hockey game on an outdoor ice rink. There was also a demonstration of Para-alipine skiing. Entertainment was provided by the Ktunaxa Nations dancers, the Pulse band, fire spinners, and snow sculptors.

There were also free family swims and a free storytelling event organized by the Literacy Club. Kimberley was one of more than 100 communities to celebrate Spirit of BC Week 2008.


Spirit of BC Week is an annual province-wide celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities. Held each February, it is a week of over 300 events and activities showcasing local programs and services that strengthen community arts, literacy, sport, recreation and volunteerism. The celebration is supported by the Province of British Columbia.
