Story

The Geist Foundation used a $53,800 grant from Arts Partners in Creative Development to commission six major artists in 2007-08 to develop six new works for the Geist Memory Project. The project explored aspects of memory, place and imagination as reflected in their cultural backgrounds and artistic sensibilities, as well as their unique sense of "home" and the "new world." Remembering, forgetting and the nature of memory itself, lie at the heart of each piece. The resulting works were featured in Geist magazine, and appeared as public exhibitions on thetyee.ca and geist.com websites.

Arts Partners in Creative Development assists BC arts and cultural organizations to create and develop new works or further develop existing works. The program is in partnership with Canada Council for the Arts, Province of British Columbia, City of Vancouver, Vancouver Foundation and VANOC.
