Story

With $10,000 in funding from Explorations, the Sea to Sky School District hosted two arts, sport and recreation camps for 40 children, aged 6-13.

The D'Arcy Adventure camps featured indoor rock climbing, dragon-boating, and painting, leatherwork, singing and story telling. Students painted vibrant plywood fish for the fence around a sockeye spawning area at Anderson Lake and made related information signs for the community. They also made and painted drums and performed dances, songs and drumming. Participating students included First Nations N'Quatqua and D'Arcy Band members.

Explorations provided students in kindergarten to Grade 7 with opportunities to explore arts, sport and recreation in summer camp settings. The program, which ran from 2005-2008, served students who were otherwise unable to attend summer camps due to location, local resources or financial limitations. Explorations was supported by the Province of British Columbia.
