Story

The Coaches Association of BC (CABC) delivered a series of workshops to develop sport leaders and coaches throughout the province. With funding of $62,750 from the BC Sport Participation Program in 2004-2007, the association trained 134 female and 199 male coaches from 20 communities. The coaches represented 12 different sports. Thanks to the funding, CABC is also partnering with several provincial sport organizations to deliver additional coaching education and certification opportunities.

The CABC delivered the workshop series in the following communities: Courtenay, Cranbrook, Duncan, Fernie, Nanaimo, Prince George, Quesnel and Vancouver.

The BC Sport Participation Program aims to increase sport participation in community and school-based sports. From 2004-2007 the program gave more than $2 million to 22 sport organizations running programs in 109 communities for close to 85,000 participants and more than 4,600 coaches. The program is funded by the Province of British Columbia and Sport Canada.
