Story

With $10,000 in funding from Explorations, the Sea to Sky School District hosted two sport and recreation camps for 69 children aged 6-12. The program partnered with Brennan Park Recreation Centre and activities took place there. SportFit modules were used to measure fitness levels.

Students participated in climbing, swimming, tennis, kite-flying and other sports. Arts activities included stomp drumming, hula-hooping, hip hop dancing and visual arts. The camps ended with performances, demonstrations and exhibits for families.

Explorations provided students in kindergarten to Grade 7 with opportunities to explore arts, sport and recreation in summer camp settings. The program, which ran from 2005-2008, served students who were otherwise unable to attend summer camps due to location, local resources or financial limitations. Explorations was supported by the Province of British Columbia.
