Story

Boundary Beach Elementary School received Explorations funding to offer 'Art in the Bay' during the summer of 2005. The two, one-week camps ran half-days and attracted 50 children. The program brought nature and art together through texture, shape and colour. Students worked on driftwood sculptures from the nearby beach. The camp linked with a regular art program at the school, combining regular nature walks with the creativity of art.

Explorations provided students in kindergarten to Grade 7 with opportunities to explore arts, sport and recreation in summer camp settings. The program, which ran from 2005-2008, served students who were otherwise unable to attend summer camps due to location, local resources or financial limitations. Explorations was supported by the Province of British Columbia.
