Story

Bamfield Community School received Explorations funding of $6,500 to offer an arts, sport and recreation camp for 19 children, aged five to 11. The Explorations Drama/Sports & Recreation Camp ran for three weeks at Bamfield Community School and other local venues. The small, rural school has excellent teachers and instructors, however, specialty teachers dedicated to drama and sports were an unusual bonus. The camp's Drama Specialist has since brought her professional drama troupe to perform for the Bamfield community.

Explorations provided students in kindergarten to Grade 7 with opportunities to explore arts, sport and recreation in summer camp settings. The program, which ran from 2005-2008, served students who were otherwise unable to attend summer camps due to location, local resources or financial limitations. Explorations was supported by the Province of British Columbia.
