Story

Hosting BC gave $7,500 to Cycling BC to host the 2005 BMX National Finals. There were 413 competitors, ranging in age from 5-52, originating from six Canadian provinces and from the northern U.S. They competed in front of 1,500 spectators and were supported by 100 local volunteers.

The Finals showcased an improved year-round facility, Abbotsford BMX, which has attracted riders to train for future events and demonstrates that Abbotsford has the capacity for hosting additional national and international events. In addition, local businesses received a cash injection thanks to spending by visiting athletes, families and fans.

Hosting BC provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events. The program is supported by the Province of BC.
