Story

Abbotsford, one of more than 100 communities celebrating Spirit of BC Week 2008, attracted almost 1,400 people to festivities that started with a Spirit Flag Raising Ceremony and included a "Walk to Whistler" where residents walked 61 kilometres on the track at Rotary Stadium.

The Cultural Festival, which showcased Abbotsford's diverse community, included entertainment, ethnic food, arts and crafts, and a lantern making display and workshop. There was also a Cultural Blend/Scavenger Hunt where families were given a passport and searched for clues about different cultures.

The 2nd Annual Spirit Literacy Day, in partnership with the Clearbrook Library, included a variety of literacy programming as well as children's entertainers, interactive booths, guest storytellers, food and fun. A free family skate and swim was described as the week's big success.
