Story

On February 5, 2010, the City of Richmond opened its new accessible playground. The playground, located along the Middle Arm Waterfront Greenway, is one of three world-class accessible playgrounds planned in the 2010 Winter Games venue cities.

The Richmond playground features several individual play spaces along the walkway, including accessible paths, level playing surfaces, an accessible boat, sound garden and sensory wall. The playground was designed to enable children with various disabilities to play side-by-side with their families and friends.

The three playgrounds were funded through a partnership of 2010 Legacies Now, the Province of BC, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada and Rick Hansen Foundation.
