Story

More than 18,000 British Columbians in 58 communities across the province had a sneak preview of the new Aboriginal Sport Gallery when it embarked on a 13-week celebratory countdown to the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games. The travelling exhibit featured interactive activities and information panels honouring Aboriginal sport through the years.

The Aboriginal Sport Gallery, a permanent tribute to the unique contributions Aboriginal peoples have made to BC's sport heritage, opened in June 2008 at the BC Sports Hall of Fame in Vancouver. With support from the Province of British Columbia's BC150 program, a mobile version of the gallery joined the Cowichan 2008 Spirit Pole tour, for a tour around the province. The tour completed its journey in Cowichan Bay in time for the official opening of Cowichan 2008 Games.
