On July 2, 2003, Canada's Olympic and Paralympic dreams came true. Vancouver was named as the host city for the 2010 Winter Games, winning by a mere three votes.

IOC President Jacques Rogge's words were heard across the country and around the world: "The International Olympic Committee has the honour of announcing that the 21st Olympic Winter Games in 2010 are awarded to the city of Vancouver."
